Candidates are invited to appear before Selection Committee in the walk-in-interview for filling up purely temporary positions in the Indo-Swiss Joint research project entitled "Beyond transgenic plants: use of precise genome editing for improving plant growth under low phosphorus input", under the supervision of Dr. Jitender Giri, Scientist, NIPGR, as per following details:

Junior Research Fellow (JRF) (One Post): Emoluments as per DST/DBT norms and as sanctioned in the project.

Essential Qualification: Candidates selected through National Eligibility Tests as mentioned in the DST Office Memorandum number SR/S9/Z-08/2018 dated January 30, 2019 and having M.Sc. degree (with minimum 60% marks) in Agriculture, Plant Science/Botany, Life Sciences or equivalent are eligible to appear for interview. Candidates having prior research experience in plant breeding, molecular biology, biochemistry are encouraged to apply.

Research Associate (RA-I) (One Post): Emoluments as per DST/DBT norms and as sanctioned in the project.

Essential Qualification: Candidates having doctorate (Ph.D) in the discipline of Life Sciences/Agriculture Sciences/Molecular Biology/ Biochemistry/Plant Physiology or equivalent are eligible to appear for interview. Candidates having prior research experience in gene-editing in rice are encouraged to apply.

The fellowship amount for the above positions are at par with the similar fellowships by DST/DBT or as sanctioned in the project. The above positions are completely on temporary basis and co-terminus with the project/scheme. The initial appointment will be for six months, which can be curtailed/extended on the basis of assessment of the candidate's performance and discretion of the Competent Authority. NIPGR reserves the right to select the candidate against the above posts depending upon the qualification and experience of the candidate. Reservation of posts shall be as per Govt. of India norms. The appointment may be terminated any time by giving one month notice by either side. The applicants will have no claim implicit or explicit for consideration against any regular position of NIPGR.

Candidates are invited to appear before selection committee in the walk-in-interview for filling up the purely temporary position of one Senior Research Fellow (SRF) in the SERB project entitled “Biological Invasion: Linking Phytochemical Dynamics of India’s Most Aggressive Plant Invader to Genomic Adaptations”, under the supervision of Dr. Gitanjali Yadav, Scientist, NIPGR.

Senior Research Fellow (One post): Emoluments as per DST/DBT/Institute  norms & as sanctioned in the project.


Candidates selected through National Eligibility Tests as mentioned in the DST Office Memorandum number SR/S9/Z-08/2018 dated January 30, 2019 and having M.Sc./M.Tech degree or equivalent in Bioinformatics/Biotechnology/Life Sciences or any other related field with at least two years of research experience are eligible to appear in interview. Candidate having experience in the area of coding techniques or statistics will be prefered.


The fellowship amount for the above position is at par with the similar fellowships by DST/DBT or as sanctioned in the project. The above position is completely on temporary basis and co-terminus with the project/scheme. The initial appointment will be for one year or till the tenability of the project/scheme whichever is earlier, which can be curtailed/extended on the basis of assessment of the candidate's performance and discretion of the Competent Authority. NIPGR reserves the right to select the candidate against the above post depending upon the qualification and experience of the candidate. Reservation of post shall be as per Govt. of India norms. National Institute of Plant Genome Research, New Delhi is an Autonomous Research Institution funded by the Department of Biotechnology, Ministry of Science & Technology, Govt. of India, to pursue research on various aspects of plant genomics. The Institute is also in the process of establishing a NIPGR Translational Centre at Biotech Science Cluster, NCR, Faridabad. Applicant should have excellent academic credentials along with the track record of scientific productivity evidenced by publications/patents/products in the frontier areas of Plant Biology such as, Computational Biology, Genome Analysis and Molecular Mapping, Molecular Mechanism of Abiotic Stress Responses, Nutritional Genomics, Plant Development and Architecture, Plant Immunity, Molecular Breeding, Transgenics for crop improvement and other emerging areas based on plant genomics.

General terms & conditions :

  • These posts carry usual allowances i.e. Dearness Allowances, House Rent Allowance, Transport Allowance etc., as admissible to the Central Government employees and as made applicable in NIPGR. The Pay Levels mentioned above are as per the pay structure of VIIth Pay Commission of the Government of India. Other benefits including NPS, Medical Reimbursement, Leave Travel Concession, Leave Encashment, Gratuity etc. are admissible as per rules of the Institute.

  • Upper age limit shall not be applicable for existing employees of the Institute or any employee of the Department of Biotechnology if they apply for the posts of the Institute.

  • The period of experience in a discipline/area of work, wherever prescribed, shall be counted after the date of acquiring the minimum educational qualifications prescribed for that post.

  • Those working in Government/PSUs/Autonomous Bodies should apply through proper channel or produce 'NOC' at the time of attending written /practical examination.

  • Outstation unemployed SC/ST candidates who are called for interview, written/practical examination will only be paid second class train fare from the actual place of undertaking the journey or from the normal place of residence whichever is nearer to Delhi Railway Station on production of relevant document of travel.  However, reservation and sleeper charges and surcharge on superfast trains will be admitted if requisite ticket/receipt etc. is submitted as proof of having actually incurred the expenses.  In the absence of valid details in the TA Claim, the surcharges, etc. will not be allowed.

  • Reservations and relaxations for SC/ST/OBC/PH & other reserved categories will be as per Government of India norms. Candidates belonging to reserved category must submit the relevant certificate along with their application.

  • Candidates should superscribe the name of the post on the top of the envelope.

  • NIPGR takes no responsibility for any delay in receipt or loss in postal transit of any application or communication.
