Applications are invited from suitable candidates for filling up the purely temporary position of one Senior Research Fellow in DST's Indo-Australian Joint project (with ICRISAT) entitled "Genomic Approach for Stress Tolerant Chickpea" under the guidance of Dr. Mukesh Jain, Scientist, NIPGR.

(A) Senior Research Fellow (One Post): Emoluments as per DST/DBT norms.

Candidates having M.Sc. degree (with minimum of 55% marks) or equivalent in Life Sciences/Biotechnology/Bioinformatics/ Molecular Biology or any other related field with minimum of two years of post M.Sc. research experience are eligible to apply. The candidate having experience in high-throughput data analysis will be preferred.

The position is completely on temporary basis and co-terminus with the project. The initial appointment will be for one year, which can be curtailed/extended on the basis of assessment of the candidate's performance and discretion of the Competent Authority. NIPGR reserves the right to select the candidate against the above posts depending upon the qualifications and experience of the candidates. Applications are invited for filling up one position of Senior Research Fellow (SRF) in the Institute with Dr. Subhra Chakraborty, Scientist, NIPGR, under “Short-Term Research Fellowship” programme. The position is completely on temporary basis with maximum duration of three years. The initial appointment will be for a period of one year, but can be curtailed or extended based on the performance of the candidate and discretion of the Competent Authority.

Qualification: Candidates having M. Sc. degree from recognized University in Life Sciences, Plant Sciences, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Bioinformatics etc. or related field with throughout good academic record having first division with minimum of two years post M. Sc. research experience in Universities and/or government academic R&D Institutes are eligible to apply. The selected candidate is expected to work on nutritional & stress genomics and proteomics in crop plants. Candidates with experience in a relevant area, expertise in molecular biology, RNA sequencing, proteomics, and bioinformatics are desirable.

Research Area: Functional Genomics and proteomics.

The Fellowship amount for the position will be given at par with the similar fellowships by DBT/DST.

Applications are invited from suitable candidates for filling up the purely temporary positions of Junior Research Fellow (JRF) in DBT research project entitled "Transcript profiling of salt and drought stress in foxtail millet (Sataria italica L) and cloning characterization of DREB2 homologue" and Senior Research Fellow (SRF) in NIPGR "Short-Term Research Fellowships" scheme under the guidance of Dr. Manaoj Prasad, Scientist, NIPGR.

(A) Junior Research Fellow (one post): Emoluments as per project sanction.

Candidate having M. Sc. degree (with minimum 60% and preferably one year of post- M.Sc research experience on related subject in an R&D lab.) in any discipline of Life Sciences. Expertise in molecular marker techniques along with basic knowledge of molecular biology background will be preferred.

(B) Senior Research Fellow (one post): Emoluments as per DST/DBT norms.

Candidates having M. Sc. degree (with minimum 60%) in any subject area of life sciences with two years of Post M. Sc. Research experience. Experience of working with plant virus, molecular biology and genomics with international publications is highly desirable.

The position is completely on temporary basis with maximum duration of three years.

The initial appointment will be for one year for SRF and upto November 2011 for JRF, which can be curtailed/extended on the basis of assessment of the candidate's performance and discretion of the Competent Authority. NIPGR may select candidate against the above posts depending upon the qualifications and experience of the candidate and reserves the right to relax any of the qualification(s) in case the candidate is found otherwise well qualified by the Selection Committee. Reservation of post shall be as per Govt. of India norms.

Applications are invited from suitable candidates for filling up the purely temporary positions of Research Associate (RA) and Technical Assistant (TA) in DBT sub-project entitled "Chickpea genome sequence analysis and its alignment to genetic map" of "Next Generation Challenge programme on Chickpea Genomics". The position will include working in the area of chickpea genomics. The work will involve generation and data analyses using next generation sequencing technologies, whole genome annotation followed by various aspects of functional genomics in chickpea.

Research Associate (one post): Emoluments as per DST/DBT norms, & sanctioned in the project.

Ph.D. degree or equivalent with relevant research experience in Bioinformatics, Molecular Biology or related field. The candidate should have First class/division throughout academic career and research experience as evidenced from published papers in standard refered journals. It will be an advantage to have experience in the area of genomics, including genome annotation, transcriptomics, microarray data analysis etc.

Technical Assistant (two post): . 8000/- consolidated p.m.

Candidate having M.Sc. degree or equivalent in any diciplince of Bioinformatics/Life Sciences. The research experience in molecular biology techniques and bioinformatics is desirable.

The positions are purely temporary and are co-terminus with the project. The initial appointment will be for one year, which can be extended on the basis of assessment of the candidate's performance and discretion of the Competent Authority. The initial appointment will be for a period of one year, but can be curtailed or extended based on the performance of the candidate and discretion of the Competent Authority.

Research Associate (One): Candidates having Ph. D. degree (awarded) in Life Sciences, Biochemistry, Plant Sciences, Biotechnology etc. or related field with throughout good academic record having first division. Candidates with strong molecular biology and biochemistry background having experience in working transgenic system and tissue culture may apply. Candidates having additional experience with signaling mechanisms and reversible protein phosphorylation will be preferred.

The Fellowship amount for the position will be given at par with the similar fellowships by DBT/DST.
